Starr Insurance, Inc. Provides Notice of Data Security Event

Starr Insurance, Inc. (“Starr Insurance”) is providing notice of a data security event that may involve information for certain individuals. Although Starr Insurance is unaware of any misuse of individual information, it is providing notice to potentially affected individuals out of an abundance of caution. This notice provides information about the event, Starr Insurance’s response, and steps potentially impacted individuals may take. 

 

On November 18, 2025, Starr Insurance became aware of suspicious activity within its computer systems. Upon learning of the activity, Starr Insurance quickly took steps to secure its computer systems and with the assistance of external cybersecurity specialists, commenced a full investigation into the nature, scope, and impact of the event. The investigation confirmed that an unauthorized actor accessed and copied files from certain Starr Insurance computer systems on November 18, 2025. Starr Insurance subsequently engaged an external data analytics specialist to conduct an extensive and time-consuming review to determine whether the affected files contained sensitive information and to whom that information relates. The review recently concluded, Starr Insurance has been working to notify potentially affected individuals. Although the types of information vary by individual, the copied information may include names, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account information, payment card information, medical information, health insurance information, and online account access information. 

 

Starr Insurance treats the responsibility to safeguard information in its possession as an utmost priority. Upon learning of this event, Starr Insurance promptly took steps to secure its systems, began a comprehensive investigation, and notified federal law enforcement. As part of its commitment to the privacy and security of information in its care, Starr Insurance continues to review and enhance existing policies and procedures relating to data protection and security, as appropriate. Starr Insurance also continues to implement additional security measures to mitigate risk associated with this event and to help prevent similar future incidents. Starr Insurance is providing notice of this event to potentially impacted individuals and to regulators, where required.

 

Although Starr Insurance is unaware of the misuse of any personal information impacted by this event, individuals are encouraged to remain vigilant against events of identity theft by reviewing account statements, explanation of benefits, and monitoring free credit reports for suspicious activity and to detect errors. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the appropriate insurance company, health care provider, or financial institution.
